Developing the Young Reader (DYR)

Developing the Young Reader is an organization dedicated to using science fiction to promote literacy in the classroom. The Millennium Philcon will have several DYR events during the convention, including a special Educators' Day on Saturday, September 1.

The Developing the Young Reader Program is open to all members of the Millennium Philcon with an interest in science fiction, education and children's literacy. If you are not a member of the Millennium Philcon, you are a teacher or librarian, and you would like to attend the Saturday DYR Program, a special rate of $50 will be available.

The Educators' Day rate is good only on memberships bought pre-con, before August 15. To take advantage of this rate, download the registration form from the Millennium Philcon Web site and print it out. In the area of the form listing rates, write "Educator Rate for Saturday, $50." Be sure to send proof of your employment as a teacher or librarian - copy of the top of your pay stub, copy of your employee card or a copy of a union card. Don't forget to include payment - check or credit card information are both accepted, when you send the form in.
