Doubletree Hotel Pittsburgh Airport Tour, 4/29/06
The Doubletree Hotel Pittsburgh Airport is not new construction; it is a completely rennovated building. Originally built in the late '70s or early '80s, this was a Ramada for many years, and then it was owned by a small school before being completely refurbished as a Doubletree. The facility is modern and reasonably spacious with excellent outdoor space (a covered courtyard in the front and a large terrace adjoining the indoor pool in the back).
The main level includes the lobby, Doubletree Ballroom, Sycamore Boardroom and
Jackson's restaurant. The lobby was good-sized, wth several seating areas.

The Sycamore Boardroom is isolated from other function space, but is very
close to the main Doubletree Ballroom. It also opens out into its own terrace.
The rest of the function space and the terrace are one level down from the
main level. Rewood Foyer has some cozy seating areas.
The smaller function rooms downstairs all look like this (Walnut Room). Each
of the smaller rooms have only one door in.
My photo of the Redwood Ballroom didn't turn out, but the adjacent terrace is
very nice.
The Presidential Suite up on the sixth floor would be a good con suite. It consists of
three adjoining rooms with comfy furniture. While there aren't any kitchen facilities,
there is a gas fireplace. One of the bathrooms has a very large tub.
