EeoRaptor: Squall muttered... why had they talked him into this... going to a dead boring little town for two whole weeks
RufusSafer: Quistis had gotten worried about him.. least that's what the excuse was.. sometimes it just seemed like she wanted that office to herself
EeoRaptor: She'd take over while he was gone... and discharge him when he returned he was sure...
EeoRaptor: She hadnt even let him bring his blade....s he'd said he'd been obsessing over it lately.
RufusSafer: Maybe she was acutally afraid he'd hurt himself or something
EeoRaptor: it just needed to be polished.. and sharpened.... she'd taken it away from him
RufusSafer: Oh well, he could get it back later.. maybe
EeoRaptor: If she didntk ick him out
RufusSafer: Of course, he was headmaster.. she couldn't do that to him.. not without a big fight anyway
EeoRaptor: He could beat her anyday.....
RufusSafer: Even at his age he'd never lost since his trainie days
EeoRaptor: Squall stretched... and scanned the town.. at least they could have sent him to a resort or something........ he thought as he headed towards the town's tiny inn
RufusSafer: It was a pretty little island town.. out in the middle of no where. Pleanty of fresh air... pleanty of fresh food. a nice beach like the one he grew up by.. what more could one want?
EeoRaptor: Action perhaps...... some women he could try and pick up... gods knew.. he hadnt been intimate with people in a while
RufusSafer: Not since... Rinoa...
EeoRaptor: Squall recoiled slightly.. at the thought of her........ she'd ran off with a fresher piece of meat......
RufusSafer: She hadn't liked him as much when he got older...
EeoRaptor: He'd gone from being a handsome fashion plate to someone who just liked to be comfortable
RufusSafer: And that
RufusSafer: 's all he wanted to be.. right?
EeoRaptor: Yes... but of course she wasnt happy with it..... s he'd wanted him to push onwards in his career... run for president or something... bah...
RufusSafer: Not his idea... not his want.. he didn't care about Galbadia
EeoRaptor: All he wanted to do was relax
EeoRaptor: But this wasnt what he'd meant
RufusSafer: oh well.. at least there was a bar
EeoRaptor: He'd check that out.... after he checked into his room
RufusSafer: and it was attached to the inn.. what wonderful turn of events
RufusSafer: The innkeeper was quiet pleasent and was happy to show him to his room as he arrived
EeoRaptor: "thanks" Squall said... looking about what was to be his home for the next two weeks
RufusSafer: It was actually a bit bigger on the inside... and he had fresh flowers in his room.. as well as a veiw of the ocean
EeoRaptor: It was quite pleasant..... squall smiled... but only slightly... it would have been what Rinoa would havel iked
RufusSafer: and it almost made him.. miss her again
EeoRaptor: He had truly loved her... but she was too good for him in the end
RufusSafer: Now he was all alone
EeoRaptor: Squall closed his eyes... he'd better go drink before he did something... like cry
RufusSafer: Drinking at least made him forget his pain for a whikle
RufusSafer: while
EeoRaptor: Maybe thats why Quistis sent him away..
RufusSafer: to forget his pain
EeoRaptor: Squall headed downstairs... and across the street to teh bar
RufusSafer: It was small.. but not too many in it
RufusSafer: There was one man at the bar, looked to be in his late 30s... very battle worn with scars across his face.. one covering his right eye which was half conceiled under his blonde hair... the rest tied down the back in a pony tail
EeoRaptor: Squall sat at the far end... and ordered a drink.. something hard
RufusSafer: The bar tender dropped a shot of scotch before him
EeoRaptor: Squall smiled. "going to need about a dozen more of these"
EeoRaptor: Squall picked it up and downed it
RufusSafer: "Sir.. you sure?" The bartender asked.
EeoRaptor: "Well maybe only a half dozen.."
RufusSafer: "Sounsd like you have problems." a calm.. gruff voice spoke.. it was the other man at the bar
EeoRaptor: "Plenty.. "
RufusSafer: The man chuckled softly, getting a refil on his own drink.
EeoRaptor: "My wife left me for something more streamlined.... and now Im on forced vacation"
RufusSafer: "Rough..." The man stood up, knocking the drink back in one take.
EeoRaptor: Squall nodded "Very... they should have just left me alone after that.."
RufusSafer: The man chuckled softly again, heading to the door.
EeoRaptor: Squall worked on his next few drinks..... his heart was aching.. and the liquor dulled the pain
RufusSafer: After a few more he could barely remember her
EeoRaptor: Which was exactly what he wanted
RufusSafer: Soon the bartender was cutting him off.. suggesting he go lay down or something
EeoRaptor: "Just one more..."
RufusSafer: "No sir... you've had enough."
EeoRaptor: Squall sighed "I havent.. Im still alive"
RufusSafer: "Sorry.. but rules are rules."
EeoRaptor: Squall whimpered softly "I can still remember"
RufusSafer: The tender pointed to the door. "Pay me and leave please."
EeoRaptor: Squall fumbled money from his wallet... and staggered towards the door
RufusSafer: It was already starting to get dark outside... he could see the lights of his inn across the street though
EeoRaptor: He staggered towards them.... they helped him focus... a bit
RufusSafer: He felt hands on him all of a sudden
EeoRaptor: Squall growled "off!"
RufusSafer: But he was too drunk to do anything about them... and they dragged him into an ally
EeoRaptor: Squall tried to fight... but it was like being stuck in mud... his movements were slow...
RufusSafer: They were going through his pockets.. trying to take his money... then suddenly there was a voice.. from a woman.. shouting at them to stop.. but not in some frantic way.. but a very calm and controlled way
EeoRaptor: Squall froze.. confused.. not sure what to do... he was utterly lost.. his head hurt too
RufusSafer: Suddenly he was dropped... and the thugs ran off.. he could hear their boots
EeoRaptor: Squall groaned and tried to sit up
RufusSafer: "You alright?" A woman's voice asked.
EeoRaptor: "My.. money..." Squall mumbled... feeling for his pockets
RufusSafer: "they took it but at least they didn't kill you."
EeoRaptor: "Would... have been better they'd killed me"
RufusSafer: she sighed. "You that depressed sir?"
EeoRaptor: "My wife is gone... yes"
RufusSafer: "She died?"
RufusSafer: She seemed to be no older then 15.. and had a sword across her back
EeoRaptor: "Left me.. "
RufusSafer: "Oh... I'm sorry sir. still.. no reason to want to die."
EeoRaptor: "Perfectly good reason... to me"
RufusSafer: She laughed softly. "You need to learn to laugh."
RufusSafer: She smiled at him as she helped him to his feet
EeoRaptor: "No laughter to be had.. nothing to laugh about"
RufusSafer: "That's why i said you need to learn.. to chase that depression away." She grinned. "Staying at the hotel?"
RufusSafer: she had a cheerful air about her
EeoRaptor: "Yes... although .....I have no money to pay for anything now..... perhaps quistis will let me go hom enow.."
RufusSafer: "hey... how about I go look for those men that robbed you? I will if you promise to cheer up."
EeoRaptor: "Sure.. I guess..... could you at least help me back to my room?"
RufusSafer: "Of course... you're too drunk to try anything anyway." She laughed
RufusSafer: "which room you in?"
EeoRaptor: "First floor..... suite
RufusSafer: "Alright." She had him over her arm pretty much, leading him into the hotel and towards the suite
EeoRaptor: Squall restrained himself from being feely... but that old ache came back
RufusSafer: she looked a bit too young anyway... and besides, she had a sword
EeoRaptor: Squall sighed... no action tonight...... why did he want it anyway...... it wasnt worth the pain
RufusSafer: not the pain of being left behind again
EeoRaptor: Squall curled up on his bed and sobbed slightly.. his stomach was churning now
RufusSafer: she frowned at him before leaving his room
EeoRaptor: She shook her head as she exited the inn.. she didnt understand some people
RufusSafer: The blonde was waiting outside for her
RufusSafer: He was watching her with his good eye.
RufusSafer: "Making new friends Mellany?" He asked.
EeoRaptor: "Not really.. more like saving a sorry soul"
RufusSafer: "did you catch his name?"
EeoRaptor: "No.. he was too drunk'
RufusSafer: "He reminds me of someone." The blonde turned. "Let's go home."
EeoRaptor: She nodded and fell in beside him "reminds you of who?"
RufusSafer: "Someone I knew from when I was your age."
EeoRaptor: "Oh.. a friend?"
RufusSafer: "Maybe.... Didn't really have friends"
EeoRaptor: "Still dont.. " She said.. sticking out her tongue
RufusSafer: he let out a low chuckle. "Still the brat are you?"
EeoRaptor: "Of course"
RufusSafer: He chuckled again. "Wonder what your parents would say."

RufusSafer: "You know what I mean." He sighed. "I know you remember them."
EeoRaptor: "Barely"

RufusSafer: He opened the door to their home at the edge of town. "Hungry?"
EeoRaptor: "Yes... I have to go after those guys that stole his money.."
RufusSafer: "been actually paying attention to my training having you?"
EeoRaptor: "Of course.. I dont like to let on though"
RufusSafer: He chuckled. "Of coruse not.. then you'd no longer be a brat, right?"
EeoRaptor: She nodded
RufusSafer: "What would the town think?" He smirked, his face wrinkling a bit under his scars
RufusSafer: He moved into the small kichen, tossing off his overcoat and looking for pots and pans
EeoRaptor: "IT would ruin my reputation"
RufusSafer: He actually laughed this time... putting a pot of boiling water on the stove to make soup with. "Best wash up..."
EeoRaptor: "I will... you have to tell me about this guy... that he looks like.. at dinner
RufusSafer: "Why do you want to know?" He turned his head, looking at her with his one good eye.
EeoRaptor: "Just curious about your past"
RufusSafer: "You kno I'm not too fond talking about it."
EeoRaptor: "I know... hey.. do you recognize this emblem?" She asked... sketching out something on one of the napkins she was setting the table with
RufusSafer: He pulled it over after dumping some vegtibales into the pot. "Hmmm... I havn't seen that in a lon time."
RufusSafer: "Get washed up."
EeoRaptor: "Was on that guy's luggage" She said... going off to wash up
RufusSafer: He stared at it for a little before the boiling of the pot reminded him that he was cooking
RufusSafer: Soon.. it was reasdy to eat
RufusSafer: and he dished it out
EeoRaptor: Mellany wandered back in and sat.... smiling at him oddly
RufusSafer: He sat down across from her, his arms folded as if he was a statue, or meditating
EeoRaptor: "whatcha thinking about?"
RufusSafer: "About the symbol you saw."
EeoRaptor: "what does it mean?"
RufusSafer: "It's the symbol of Balamb Garden.. of the SeeD”
RufusSafer: He drumbed one hand along his arm
EeoRaptor: "Thats where you used to live... isnt it?"
RufusSafer: "Yes... in Balamb.."
EeoRaptor: "So... is it the guy you knew?"
RufusSafer: "Might very well be."
EeoRaptor: Her eyes lit up... if it was... she was going to ask him about the past her father didnt talk much about
RufusSafer: "Don't..." He said, as if reading her mind,
RufusSafer: "You shouldn't get too near him."
EeoRaptor: "I promised to help him get his money"
RufusSafer: "I know... but don't stop to chat."
EeoRaptor: "Why not?"
RufusSafer: He sighed. "Please.. don't ask."

RufusSafer: He stood up, barely touching his food.. and walked out into the back. She knew him well enough to know he did this when he wanted to be alone and think
RufusSafer: He sat down in the back, mediating
EeoRaptor: She ate her dinner... then cleaned up... leaving his stuff on the table.... she had money to reclaim
RufusSafer: And she wasn't his keeper.. he was hers.. she didn't need to clean up after him.. especially sicne she had thugs to fighht
EeoRaptor: She'd have a good workout with them.... and perhaps... she'd ask questions anwyay
RufusSafer: She was such a brat after all. Anyway, those thugs couldn't hurt her.. but she could hurt them
RufusSafer: She knew where they liked to hang out too
EeoRaptor: IT wasnt the first time they'd harassed someone
RufusSafer: They were gonna drive out tourists if they kept robbing people
EeoRaptor: This new guy was the first tourist in a bit... and the town needed the money they brought in
RufusSafer: Needed more tourists... so she had to take care of the rogues
EeoRaptor: She strapped her gear on and set out to their hideout
RufusSafer: which was on the other side of town, but it's not like they could see her coming.. she was quiet the clever one after all
RufusSafer: One of them was gaurding the door
EeoRaptor: "I'd like to talk to you guys" She said
RufusSafer: The one at the door stiffed. "Erm.. about what?"
EeoRaptor: "About you guys running off the tourists"
RufusSafer: "Hey.. we gotta eat ya know."
RufusSafer: He rubbed his head
RufusSafer: "How we supposed to eat?"
RufusSafer: He didn't seem so bright
EeoRaptor: "Get a real job..."
EeoRaptor: "If no tourists come this place will be a ghost town.."
RufusSafer: "That's why there ain't no jobs kid... don't ya know that?"
EeoRaptor: "Well you just robbed the first tourist we've had in months
EeoRaptor: "Think he's going to write home to his friends about how great his mugging was?

EeoRaptor: "If we dont get more tourists the shops are going to pack up and move on.. "
EeoRaptor: "after that theres no place to work... then the people have to leave..."
RufusSafer: "Ha.. doubt you'll ever leave."
RufusSafer: He laughed.
EeoRaptor: "No.. I'll stay where my father goes... "
EeoRaptor: "Now please hand over the cash"
RufusSafer: "I don't have it! besides.. how do you plan to make me?"

RufusSafer: He was unarmed
RufusSafer: All he had was his muscles
EeoRaptor: "Well.. afraid?"
RufusSafer: "Of your blade? Let's see what ya got kid."

RufusSafer: And he backed inside.. where the others were.. playing cards
EeoRaptor: She followed him in... pointing the blade at him
RufusSafer: the other men stood up, not sure how to react.. their swords far away
RufusSafer: "What is she doing here?"
RufusSafer: The leader pointed
EeoRaptor: "I want that guy's money back"
RufusSafer: "Oh ya? Make us."
RufusSafer: He picked something up, a large pipe
RufusSafer: "Come and get it."
EeoRaptor: She nodded and took up a stance... then lunged towards him
RufusSafer: He tried to bat her away with his pipe. "Grrr.":
EeoRaptor: "Oh come now.. who taught you to fight?"
RufusSafer: "No one taught me! I leaned in the fights!"
EeoRaptor: "Thats why youre so pathetic is it?" She asked... moving to disarm him of the pipe
RufusSafer: Which was easy.. she had been trained by the best after all
EeoRaptor: "Now give back that guy's money before I have to do some more disarming"
RufusSafer: he grimaced and grabbed up a pouch. "Fine.. take it... maybe you aught to consiter joining forces with us ya know."
EeoRaptor: "No way... my dad taught me to be true to ones self... and Im not scum."
EeoRaptor: She reached for the pouch
RufusSafer: "Hey!" He yelled as she took it. "And you're saying he's not?"
EeoRaptor: "My father is not scum.."
RufusSafer: "Oh ya?" the man laughed. "How little you know about him girl..."
EeoRaptor: "I know that he raised me to be an upstanding citizen.."
RufusSafer: "Ask him what he was doing twenty years ago... Ask him how many people he's killed."

EeoRaptor: "Shut up.. " She said.. snatching the money and hurrying off
RufusSafer: It was rather disturbing.. but probably he was just tryiong to lower her guard by saying that
EeoRaptor: She hurried back to the hotel to give the money back
RufusSafer: And found herself knocking on his door
EeoRaptor: "hello?" she called
RufusSafer: She knocked agian, louder.. he was probably asleep
EeoRaptor: Squall groaned.. his head was throbbing.. but he got up to answer the door... cold washcloth still draped over his head
RufusSafer: That girl from earlier was there. She smiled at him. "Hey, how's the head?"
EeoRaptor: "Its throbbing... "
RufusSafer: "Aww.. well, this should help." She tossed him the pouch. "God your money back!"
EeoRaptor: "Oh... thanks.. " He said... not sounding overly exited
RufusSafer: "So, tell me about Balamb."
EeoRaptor: "Balamb? Nothing much there.."
EeoRaptor: "Just a little fishing town....... sort of like this......just not as warm
RufusSafer: "Ahhh.... what about garden?"
EeoRaptor: "I live there.. well.... I think Quistis wants me out.."
RufusSafer: she managed to settle herself into a chair. "Aww... too bad. Hey.. what's your name?"
EeoRaptor: "My name? Squall... Squall Leonhart...'
RufusSafer: "My name's Mellany."
EeoRaptor: Squall put his hand to his head and flopped down onto the bed.. his head was pounding "If you want to ask questions... please do so with me lying down"
RufusSafer: "Oh fine.. well... tell me about garden.":
EeoRaptor: "Its a big place... mobile now... ;
EeoRaptor: Lots of people there.. we train them as mercenaries of a sort
RufusSafer: "Oooo... mercenaries! Cool... what else you guys do?"
RufusSafer: She placed her hands to her knees to listen
EeoRaptor: "Learn regular things too.. how to read.. how to write... how to be a leader"
RufusSafer: "I got taught all that out here."

RufusSafer: "Well, if I was you I wouldn't let her!"

RufusSafer: "come on.. ya gotta fight!"

RufusSafer: "Yea well.. too bad." She stalked out, shaking her head. Maybe that's what she'd been warned against talking to him. He was such a downer.
EeoRaptor: Squall sighed... and got up... he was going to go sit on the beach
RufusSafer: That girl seemed rather.. upset at him
EeoRaptor: She'd be back... she wanted to know about garden... did she want to be a seed? She was probably too old..
RufusSafer: she seemed to be 15...
RufusSafer: that was too old to start training'
RufusSafer: She was an oprhan too she had said.. then who took care of her?
EeoRaptor: Someone who'd trained her in seed
RufusSafer: But he didn't know of any former SeeDs that lived out here
EeoRaptor: Squall pondered... heading down to the beach
RufusSafer: He was being watched though didn't know it
EeoRaptor: Squall found a spot and sat down onto the sand... sighing... it was pretty
RufusSafer: even prettier then the beach he grew up on, though that was hard to remember
EeoRaptor: Squall picked up a shell from the sand
RufusSafer: Someone was walking onto the beach as well, behind him almost.. heavy footsteps in the sand
EeoRaptor: Squall tensed slightly... hoping it wasnt those bandits
EeoRaptor: He wasnt going to let on that he'd heard them though..
RufusSafer: The person moved... some feet away, and sat in the sand. It was that man that he'd seen int he bar earlier
EeoRaptor: Squall toyed with the shell in his hands
RufusSafer: It kinda reminded him of a shell he had from when he was a child on the beach of the orphanage
EeoRaptor: Squall smiled at the memory... and rubbed the shell with his fingers
EeoRaptor: "not often I remember back then.. " He said to himself
RufusSafer: The other man was very quiet, though.. Squall could feel him watching
EeoRaptor: "Come to rob me?" Squall asked
RufusSafer: "I do not rob people." the man said calmly
EeoRaptor: "Forgive me.. been robbed once already..... not too keen on a repeat"
RufusSafer: "I know.. I heard."
EeoRaptor: "I would have liked to have gone home though.. "
RufusSafer: "Not enjoying this quiet little town?"
EeoRaptor: "I dont want Quistis to take over my job..
RufusSafer: The man chuckled softly. "Is that what worries you?"
EeoRaptor: "My job is the only thing that keeps me alive anymore"
RufusSafer: "things really that bad for you?"
EeoRaptor: "I have no one.... my friends have paired off and gone... and the ones that are left are driven by their own desires to advance.. even if it means pushing me down"
RufusSafer: "I didn't think you ever had friends." He said, as if he knew him... taking a swig from a jug he was carring with him
EeoRaptor: "After I saved the world I did. "
RufusSafer: The man chuckled again, capping his jug.
EeoRaptor: "The worst thing about my life now are the what if's "
RufusSafer: "What if's?"
EeoRaptor: "Yeah.. what if I hadnt rescued her....... what if I hadnt played dumb when my rival was after me......."
RufusSafer: The man chuckled again, standing this time and swiping the sand off his clothes. "People always think of what might have been... about the choices they made. You can't change what you've done, but you can start fresh."
EeoRaptor: "I want to ..... start over... "
RufusSafer: "That's the easy part.. changing is the hard... living with your past..." he started to walk away.. down the beach.
EeoRaptor: "My past... Im not concerned with...... its more my present.." Squall said... hugging his knees and staring out to sea
RufusSafer: "You can still change all that, you just need to try." The man replied, his voice echoing back to Squall
EeoRaptor: Squall frowned..... it was hard enough to change the first time... then there was the matter of his son and such...
RufusSafer: Not like cared either.. the lil mama's boy
EeoRaptor: He couldnt believe she had the gall to tell him... that Squall had been the one cheating on her
RufusSafer: That bitch... he'd never so much as looked at another woman
EeoRaptor: She'd been the one..... he'd come in .. home early from a mission...... and.....
RufusSafer: Seen her with some guy he didn't even know
EeoRaptor: Her new affair...... an up and coming rock star...... she'd taken just about everything...... including their son... he'd had to fight to keep his gunblade
RufusSafer: Now he was in a far away place... talking to some strange man that talked as if he knew him or something'
EeoRaptor: Squall looked down the beach ..... he could barely see him now
RufusSafer: Just a blonde pony tail flickering in the sun
EeoRaptor: Squall flopped back onto the sand.. how did you pick up the pieces of your life..
RufusSafer: Maybe he just shouldn't go back to Balamb.. maybe he could find a job here and just stay
EeoRaptor: That might not be a bad idea....... to leave his old life behind
RufusSafer: This place seemed like the sort of place where people were either born here or came here to get away from their past
EeoRaptor: quistis wanted his job...... she could have it
RufusSafer: he wasn't set up for that world any more anyway
EeoRaptor: Squall smiled.... he had to get her to send his savings first... then he could buy himself a place
RufusSafer: That shouldn't be too hard.. she probably had it waiting to go
EeoRaptor: squall got up.... first he had to find a place to buy...
RufusSafer: There were pleanty of small places that seemed empty at the edge of town
EeoRaptor: He'd have to check in with the town hall on that
RufusSafer: That wasn't too far from the inn
EeoRaptor: Squall headed that way.. he felt good for some reason... as if giving everyone what they wanted would just get them madder
RufusSafer: because they wanted to fight him and see him loose.. not this
EeoRaptor: Squall entered the town hall and asked the receptionist where the reality office was

RufusSafer: The book on the battle with the sorceress read like a fiction novel... it was writen by Selphie (I constently forget her last name) and spoke about things she'd come across after the battle as well.. such as what she'd heard had happend in Galbadia.. bad stuff the sorceress's knight did... such as order disidents who sided against the sorceress killed.

RufusSafer: They were of most of the people in the story.. with a little caption under them. a picture of squall when he was 17, hero it said.. currently living in Balamb with his wife. Of course, this was twenty years old there abouts. and next to that a picture of the Sorceress knight, a tall blonde with green eyes. Seifer Almasy, currently whereabouts unknown. age 18. After the battle he simply vanished. no one knows if he's alive or dead. and that's all it read. funny how he and Squall had the same scar on their foreheads. (I don't think he ever went by his real name.. Seifer that is)

EeoRaptor: "I wonder whatever happened to you Seifer.." Squall said... carrying the book into his room
RufusSafer: The book reminded him how Seifer simply vanished after all of that. last seen by his friends down by Balamb shore.
RufusSafer: The scrap of paper in the book turned out to be a note
